So one of the major exports of Honduras is coffee. Not only is it a major industry here, but a lot of people grow it in their backyard for themselves. Here are some photos from my host family:
1 – coffee growing on the tree – when it is ripe in January or February the berries turn red
2 – next the berries are dried
3 – once dried, the berries are ground to extract the bean. this is the bean before toasting
4 – halfway done toasting
5 – toasted and ready to be ground again

happy 4th!
i’m in the process of applying for the peace corps now; hoping to end up in central or south america, but i think i would be happy just about anywhere. i’m really glad you put a link to this on your facebook page- it’s been great reading about your experience so far. hope things are well and keep ‘em coming…
Hi Molly – great to hear from you – happy 4th to you too! Awesome to hear you are applying – where are you in the process? Before I left I had a lot of questions and talked to a bunch of people who had gone through Peace Corps – anyways – if you have any questions I’m happy to help – let me know.
